Today Landsdowne took to the pitch still in good spirits from their previous match. As a result they were hoping to get a home win or at least a draw as to date they haven't managed one point at home so far this season. In their way was Hockley BL II who are currently top of the league.

The game got off to a good start as Dave Rix continued his recent goal scoring streak with a 30 yard power driver that was unstoppable.

Landsdowne carried on taking the game to their opponents and could have been 3 or 4 goals up within 25 mins, missing which proved to be costly chances.

As the game went on Hockley BL II stepped up a gear and showed why they are top of the table and it came as no surprise, despite Landsdowne's battling efforts, when Hockley BL II scored on the half hour mark with a good finish to level the game.

Landsdowne then dug in deep and kept them at bay till the 40th minute when a tame shot found its way under Darren Playfords fingers leaving the visitors 2-1 up.

What followed then to half time can only be described as unbelievable, infact diabolical, as Landsdowne's players crumbled easier than Roman ruins, their heads so low it looked like a bunch of ostriches in a desert.

Within 5 minutes, thanks to a poor offside decision from the linesman and two individual errors, Landsdowne let in 3 goals to go in at half time 5-1 behind.

At half time Landsdowne regrouped and took to the field with their tails up, determined to learn by their mistakes and give a good account of themselves in the second half.

From the restart, Graham Rix pulled a goal back with a carbon copy goal like his brothers, another powerdriver into the bottom corner making it 5-2.

However, despite Landsdowne's efforts they could not manage to get any more goals and managed to concede another three for their troubles, including to add insult to injury another offside goal.

However, today Landsdowne could at least leave the pitch with their heads held high. Whilst the opposition were the better team on the day, the 8-2 scoreline was a bit flattering.

As "Man of the Match" Danny Sarling commented afterwards, "I think we was in it until the 8th goal went in".
