Today’s game, Hollandiers who deservedly clinched the div 4 title last week meaning this game for both teams was more about pride then anything else. Hollandiers would be looking too stayed unbeaten and Landsdowne would be looking to keep to winning ways. Being at home would hopefully give Landsdowne an advantage as the pitch would surely be a factor to stop Hollandiers passing the ball about as well as they go on their home turf.

Hollandiers started well but Landsdowne were defending well; the only real changes were from well outside the box and Medcraft was performing well between the sticks. Landsdowne had a few chances as well and Bushy was causing problems with his aerial prowess.

Hollandiers continued to play some good football but seemed to be looking for the perfect goal, but it was Landsdowne who grabbed the opener, a great through ball by Rix found Sarling just outside the box, he had three players around him but with great composure managed to hold of the players and coolly passed the ball past the keeper, 1-0. This shocked Hollandiers and they didn’t manage to recover before half time.

Landsdowne started the second halve well; they were beginning to play some good football and looked threatening going forward. Unfortunately they couldn’t hold on to their lead as the centre midfielder for Hollandiers found himself in space around the box and with the slight help of a bobbled shot found the far corner, 1-1.

Hollandiers began to push forward now looking to keep up their winning streak. Landsdowne were defending well and still trying to push forward themselves, the next goal could be the winner. Unfortunately for Landsdowne it was and it didn’t go to them, a foul just in the box by Martin led to a penalty. It was a well taken penalty sending Medcraft the wrong way, 2-1.

With about ten minutes left Landsdowne pushed forward looking for a winner but ran out of time in the end. Final score, 2-1. A good performance once again by Landsdowne, unlucky in the end to lose but the result was fair in the end. Let’s keep playing well boys and the results will come.
