Landsdowne’s first home game of the season was against another new face to division 4; Belfair’s Old Boys FC. The only other meeting between these two teams came a few weeks previous; both teams met in the group stage and again in the final of the Sceptre League 5aside. The first game was 0-0 and Belfair’s edged the final 1-0. So based on recent results this was a going to be a close game.

Landsdowne settled well and were playing some good football. Vieceli was again causing problems with his long throw. The Belfair’s keeper came to punch but missed, Bushy met the ball well but the ball somehow stayed out, Bushy then had another go, and another, and another, and another and then finally put the ball in. 1-0.

It wasn’t long until the home side got another. A great corner by Dan T was met with a bullet header by Bushy. This time it wasn’t kept out. 2-0. Landsdowne continued to dominate and didn’t look like conceding..... This was until Yard made a stupid mistake in the box. Jumping to win the header from a long ball he put his hands out onto the attackers back leaving the ref no choice but to point to the spot. The resulting spot kick was well taken giving Belfair’s a lifeline. 2-1. Half Time.

Belfair’s began to threaten more but Medcraft in goal and some great defending by Martin, Weaving and Vieceli kept the home side in the lead. A lucky break of the ball fell to Bushy from a long clearance from Martin. A first time lob from outside the box gave Bushy a great hat trick. Several players commented after the game that he was surely the oldest hat trick scorer in the Sceptre League. Some even said he might even be the oldest player...... Regardless, his still got it!!

With the score at 3-1 Landsdowne now looked comfortable and good for the win. Belfair’s had different ideas. The winger floated in a good cross which was met by a good header. 3-2. Landsdowne now had to wake up and try and see out the game. Moments later Orme secured the three points with a slightly fortunate finish, but they all count. Final score 4-2.

Another great win for Landsdowne and another 3 points. Well played boys. Let’s keep it up.
