7 day’s had come to pass since Landsdowne’s quarter final late show, and the day had finally arrived. Could this new breed of Landsdowne players re-write the history book’s again, or would they fall at the last hurdle like so many before? This was Landsdowne’s at least 7th, maybe 8th, semi final. Always the nearly men but never actually there. Hopefully with this bunch of player’s this year would be the year.

Landsdowne went into today’s result full of optimism, if they could just win today a final would await, but a loss and it was all over. The Manager opted for a 4-5-1 formation today, he informed the players that he wanted to tire their midfield and hit them in the second half with the usual 4-4-2 formation. The players listened to the instructions as the Manager left no stone unturned as he pointed out to player’s individually exactly what their role was within this formation.

The players took to the field with no other intention than a win, the game begun and was history about to be made or was the hoodoo, the wicked curse that had befallen so many good men before, about to strike again.

Landsdowne got off to an awful start, despite their continual battling and effort’s, they were not playing well at all to say the least. However, despite not being able to play they were holding on at 0-0 for a good 15min’s or so until eventually they conceded a goal, leaving Landsdowne playing poorly and trailing 1-0.

Unfortunately like a dam, the more water the more pressure, eventually it will crack, and this was happening here. Landsdowne had no outlet and were getting pummelled from all area’s and despite Landsdowne’s effort’s a 2nd goal was on the card’s unless they could sort themselve’s out.

Unfortunately the dam cracked and Landsdowne trailed 2-0 by the end of the half leaving waymade an easy route to the final.

Landsdowne took to the field for the second half and battered waymade, which saw Lansdowne force extra time after a scintillating 3-3 draw at full time, unfortunately landsdowne were punished for sloppy mistakes and missed opportunities, and the best team lost on the day, 4-3 was the final score after extra time and leaving landsdowne nearly men once more.

Man of the match

Dean Weaving was so distraught at this loss that weeks later it finally affected him and he took it out on his hair.
