Another Sunday, another 3 points up for grabs, the opponents Old Southendians.

Could Landsdowne make history in their topsy turvy season and manage to get their first point or three at home this season ? Also, could they break another duck and manage to win two games on the trot ?

Well the answer was yes to the above until the intervention of the ref which saw two diabolical decisions ruin Landsdowne's hard work in the space of 5 minutes. Even the opposition at full time commiserated with the deflated team. A kick in the bollo*ks would have cheered up every player and felt less painful, such was the pain inside.

Landsdowne got off to a good start seeing Graham Rix hitting the post within 5 minutes and eventually after numerous attacks saw Landsdowne take the lead. A deft ball by the in form Dean Weaving enabled Tony Bush to rip the net with a quality finish that was right out the top draw.

Unfortunately Landsdowne got pinned in their own half despite their best efforts to move further up field.
Attack after attack, corner after corner, raided upon the Landsdowne goal, but the team worked hard and the defence looked solid, thwarting the opposition time after time.

The only lapse was from a corner when Darren Playford only managed to parry the ball into the net leaving the score 1-1 at half time.

Old Southendians kicked off the second half and kept possession well with slick passing and good movement, they camped in Landsdowne's half for the rest of the match but Landsdowne dug deep and every player gave their all.

Every ball was contested, not a tackle shirked, as Landsdowne's never say die attitude gave their opponents no way through their solid shape. Unfortunately Landsdowne's attacks were now limited to counter attacking football which worked well when fantastic work by Graham Rix saw him cut inside from the left and fire a low shot in the bottom right corner leaving the score 2-1 with 10 minutes to go.

It looked like all the hard work was going to pay off as Old Southendians just could not find a way through, then up steps the ref with 5 minutes to go to make two terrible mistakes in succession, awarding the opposition two corners that should never have been.

The rest as they say is history. They scored from both corners leaving the score 3-2 at full time and a very gutted and understandably upset team.

MAN OF THE MATCH Darren Playford was unavailable for comment as he had to take off quickly for some more swearing lessons as he was concerned how many non savoury words was creeping into his dialogue.
