After winning 4-1 in the first of today’s games Landsdowne were very confident about the result before a ball had even been kicked. The manager changed the team and the system slightly, however the message was the same; play fast attacking football and work hard for the full game.

It didn’t take long for Landsdowne to dominate this game. They went forward in numbers and defended strongly, not allowing St. George the change to pick up any momentum. It was 4-0 at half time with four different goal scorers.

1st Half Goals: Goal 1: Richard Martin; a good cross was met by a strong header by Rich. Goal 2: Dan Sherry; the ball was passed to Yard who had lots of space down the right. He slotted the ball into the path of Sherry who coolly slotted the ball home. Goal 3: Robert Marling; a low drive across the box by G. Rix gave Rob the simplest of finishes. Goal 4: Paul Munyard; a high ball from Richard Martin created confusion in the St. George defence. Great work by G. Rix meant the defender could not clear and the ball fell to Yard who composed himself to take the ball around the keeper and make the game 4-0 at half time.

It was pretty much job done so the manager made a few changes and kept the talk simple; keep the ball, play simple football and see the game out. Landsdowne did just that, they were rarely troubled at the back and created several goal-scoring opportunities. The final score was 7-0 but it could have been more if the finishing / final ball had been better.

2nd Half Goals: Goal 1: Graham Rix - sorry Graham can’t remember. Goal 2: Dan Sherry; the ball was slid past the defence into Dan’s path. He found himself one on one with the keeper and smashed the ball top corner, post and in, great finish. (Don’t think he meant it though!!) Goal 3: Richard Martin – sorry Rich can’t remember.

A great result that was never in doubt. Two good performances on the day gave a much needed 6 points which was going to push Landsdowne up the league table. It was job done, players did what they needed to do to and ensure the victory. The next three games are against another familiar opposition; Bromfords Reunion. The task was surely going to be harder however the result today would definitely inspire confidence within the team. Well done boys.
