After 5 week, Landsdowne Rangers finally had a game to play!! And the lengthy list of absentees With Stuart (Knee), Terry (Ankle), Dariusz (Work), Phil (P.O.W), Neil, Pete & Martin (AWOL), Joe, Jon Orme & Brian (Out the door) is not exactly what you want to see with 3 games of the season remaining.

The squad can officially be called thread bloody bare!!! The only shining light was with Farmyard there at least the squad wasn’t thread bare and ugly!!

The opposition that stood in there way of gaining a Charity Cup Semi Final place was top of the table Nicholas Wybacks – not only top of the table – put top of the Premier Table.

Landsdowne Rangers knew that today was just about keeping a bit of pride, and not stretching themselves to much in order to keep the system tight, as they say in cup games, it’s a one off game and anything can happen.

From all their possession (I would have loved to seen that stat!) Nicholas Wybacks never really created a firm chance, although to be fair if they needed to I think they could have pulled the trigger if they wanted to.

About after 15 minutes a cross was whipped in from Nicholas Wybacks down the Landsdowne left, Dave Rix rose highly but only managed what turned out to be a flick on and over the head of Ben in goal, to give Nicholas Wybacks a 1 – 0 lead. Only minutes after this Dave Rix turned his knee, which has later been confirmed that he has torn his medial collateral ligament – obviously ruling him out for the remainder of the season, and probably the start of next season!!

A fresh faced player in the name of John Wilson took to the pitch in Daves absence, and with a few position juggles, john took place next to rob Marling in the centre of Midfield, or as it said in the match day programme… “The return of little and Large”.

Landsdowne closed down and chased shadows and scraps all the way to half time – which brought us in at 1 – 0 down, a scoreline that even the most die-hard of Landsdowne players would have been over joyed with.

The 2nd half started as the 1st finished, with Nicholas Wybacks spraying the ball around, and generally being in control of matters, Landsdowne, now getting more and more tired, Wybacks started to pick Landsdowne off, as the 2nd half saw them score another 2 goals.

Final score 3 – 0 and Landsdowne were over joyed with that, all credit to a very professional Nicholas Wybacks side who knew they had the upper hand all game, so they did what they needed to do with class and decorum. They could have gone full pelt and probably ran out winners in double figures. – They knew they were the better side, so why be flash about it. Well Played Nicholas Wybacks – a credit to football!

So now, the Landsdowne 12 man squad now down to a 11 man squad rolls into the last 2 league games, players down, not match fit, but still full of hope and promise….

M.OM Chris Vieceli was the difference today from it being 3 – 0 or double figures – 0. Well deserved.

One little bit of homework for you all until Sunday. Go to tescos, buy some cello-tape and cotton wool, take them home, and wrap the cotton wall around your whole body with the tape!!
