Todays game was a cup game against Hawkwell 2nds. After a draw in the league Landsdowne would be looking to get back to winning ways. The first half was very scrappy with neither team playing good football, although Landsdowne were creating a few opportunities, particularly from set pieces. A long throw led to the first goal; Chris Vieceli delivered his trademark throw, a flick on by Stuart Medcraft gave Bushy the chance to get his first goal of the season however instead he decided to ‘pass’ the ball to Gavin who made the score 1-0.

The game continued to be scrappy with both teams wasting possession too easy. Another long throw led to the second goal. Again Bushy could have scored but instead he was beaten to the ball by the ‘younger’ legs of Robert Marling who smashed the ball home from close range; 2-0.

At half time the score was 2-0. Landsdowne hadn’t really played well but at the same time had not been threatened. The manager’s words were very encouraging; more of the same, keep pushing and the goals would come. And he was right, Robert Marling passed the ball to Danny Sarling who shot with the laces instead of the outside of his boot to make the score 3-0. With both centre midfielders scoring Paul Munyard was starting to worry; however his wish come true as moments later Danny fell to the ground in agony, he couldn’t play on and had to be substituted by yep you guessed it Munyard. Now all he needed to do was score and give himself a chance to win his place back…….

Within moments Danny’s nightmare did come true; some good work by Gavin helped the ball fall to Yard inside the box who placed the ball past the keeper to make the score 4-0. Landsdowne were now easily in control; Hawkwell had no options going forward and it was simply now how many goals would Landsdowne win by. A great cross by Gav gave Bushy the goal he deserved. An easy header in the end but with 2 assists already it was well earned. 5-0.

Bushy decided his work was not done yet and slid a lovely through ball to his strike partner Stuart to finish the game off; 6-0. A great performance by Landsdowne, they completely dominated the game and played some great football both in attack and in defence. A clean sheet was a great reward for the solid display from the back four and six goals coming from 6 of the midfield and forward players representing good finishing from all areas of the pitch. Well-done lads.
