3 week’s had come to pass since Landsdowne’s finest 90 min’s this season. Now all they had to do was build on it. There opponent’s were Reecon Rovers and 3 points would have seen Landsdowne needing 1 point to climb out of the bottom in there next fixture. 3 changes were made today from the winning line up due to injuries and absentees. In come born again Christian on the left, “Have it” at centre back and the Spookster for the injured Bling in goal. So, with the confidence high the tails up what could go wrong????????

For starters although the shape looked good as it has for some time now, the work rate was just not there and only through good defending and a spot of luck Landsdowne made it to half time still level at 0-0.

It was half time and manager “Have it” gave the team a right hair dryer treatment that would have left Alex Ferguson proud. “Have it” stated that we were there to work and not for the sun and made 2 subs and threatened more if the work rate did not increase in the second half.

The second half kicked off and Landsdowne looked more potent and looked the likely team to score when a ball was hoofed up front and out come the Spookster to collect the ball. Unfortunately by the time he got to the ball it was already behind him, so with that he turned round and started throwing some shapes. Was he voguing, was he doing Y.M.C.A. ? To this day nobody will know and just when it looked safe he rose like a salmon and with the “hand of cod” slapped it in the back of the net leaving Landsdowne trailing 1-0. It was truly a goal Mara Dona would have appreciated.

With that Landsdowne wobbled for 10 mins which saw the Vegas get booked - cha cha ching – I put that in for the Rav as I know he loves me getting booked. Eventually Landsdowne grew in confidence again however missed chances that went a begging and despite their best effort’s Landsdowne lost 2-0 after a mix up between centre back and keeper for the second goal

So, where does that leave the Landsdowne ? It leaves them rooted firmly bottom by 4pts and officially the worst team in Basildon. Now tables don’t lie however with good work rate in the next 2 games we can get off bottom and looking around the team I know and you know we are not the worst, so dig in and let’s win the last two. I don’t want to finish bottom let’s have some Landsdowne pride and get off the bottom. Ya can’t see it, you can’t buy it, you feel it inside, it’s not just football and it’s not any club. It’s Landsdowne - wear the crest with pride.

Man of the match

Vegas was interviewed after the game and he stated the reason for his performance was inspired by the 1966 England World Cup winning side and tried to emulate them by dressing like them before the game.

HAVE IT’S BIG FIVE

I felt like I have most of the season that we are not mentally prepared before the game, and if we are to contest cups and league’s we need to have more belief , work rate, talking , and encouragement as a team. With the ability we have, if we applied the above with self confidence then we can go far. I believe, but you need to as well.

(1) When we defend watch the game and players not just the ball.
(2) If you are in midfield you must work, work and work some more.
(3) Talk and encourage.
(4) Be mentally prepared, prepare yourself before a game – imagine what you need to do in the game as this speeds up your reaction time. I know it sounds funny - I'm not bringing along Eileen Drewery - infact it’s normally John Smith’s brewery, but check this website out, professionals use it. Click here to go to website.
(5) Like I said 10 min’s before the game switch on and concentrate what you need to do. Positive thinking. Again professionals use this website. Click here to go to website.
