A Graham Rix double helped Landsdowne to secure three points and keep their hopes of third place alive, whilst damaging Talwin’s chances of closing the gap on them.

Danny Sarling hit the bar early on with a rasping outside of the boot shot (no surprise on the style then Dan) which had the Talwin keeper back pedalling, but it was graham Rix who brought the break through. After some neat football and great movement Graham was brought down and the ‘big man’ took the weight of the world on his shoulders and place the ball into the net, 1-0.

Continued pressure from Landsdowne led to another goal, this time hard working Landsdowne pin-up Paul Farmyard popped up to place home a deflected shot by Graham Rix, great work lads, 2-0.

All was going well until Talwin decided to finally make a game of it and their eventual pressure resulted in a penalty, as Talwin whipped in a corner Ben thought it might be a good idea to push and then jump on the Talwin player attacking the ball!! Ref points to the spot and 2-1.

Halftime came and as we all walked off the pitch we realised that we would rather be on it as it was freezing!! So after a few quick words we got back on with it.

In the first half Landsdowne had been playing some their best football in weeks but it all started to slip as Talwin won a corner and worked it well and after a great ball slotted home from 6 yards……2-2

Low on confidence Landsdowne continued to pressure Talwin who were not willing to give up the fight until Graham slotted through a so far quiet Gavin Mayo to slot home, 3-2 Landsdowne. With Landsdowne now dominating they continued to pass the ball around the pitch, as Graham Rix passed the ball to a screaming Dean Weaving in the middle to the park who had one touch looked up and decided to shoot from around thirty yards! With a little luck and help from the wind the goal keeper could only watch as Weaving sprinted towards Martin to celebrate….4-2.

With confidence blossoming like a spring flower Landsdowne continued to push with Short corner being taken from Graham Rix to Dean Weaving, who turned and drilled a low cross into Gavin Mayo’s feet who looked up and placed the ball into the back of the net 5-2.

With Landsdowne now in full control Danny sarling streamed through and looked to be shooting before Graham Rix ‘nicked (quoted by himself) the ball from Danny’s foot and scored a curling left foot screamer, a peach of a goal I must say!!.

After a great game by all Landsdowne walked off with the three points and a well deserved victory.

Here are some match states I didnt get in but was asked to mention…:

1) Gav had terrible 1st half (but still got 2, not bad mate)
2) Ben had his hood up for 65 minutes
3) Dean & Ben back to boxing players in
4) Rob looking like he was going to cry after seeing the last sub come on having told Graham he wouldn’t last 90 minutes – (I forgot he told me)
5) Dariusz and Martin both nearly getting on score sheet
6) Every player laid in by Danny missed their chance – still not many assists by Danny
7) Danny going off for a dump in the bushes – coming back over 10 minutes later to say he hadn’t gone!! Yeah right!!!!
8) The Talwin Manager bashing the puddles with a corner flag to try and move the water around for the game to go ahead

In all seriousness well played to all, we had great spirit that showed throughout the team and whole game, the most pleasing thing was that we never game up, we all worked for each other, and boys….we played some nice football and enjoyed are selves!! That was the Landsdowne from last season playing out there, so lets keep it up and all that (I will leave inspiring team analysis to Danny!!)
