Landsdowne continued their recent improvement in form with a comfortable win against struggling Kingston.

This bottom of the table clash saw an opportunity for Landsdowne to clinch another much needed win in the hope of closing the gap on next weeks double header opponents Chronicles.

The first half saw Landsdowne take advantage of the strong winds, establishing an early lead after ten minutes when Graham Rix cleverly rounded the keeper after a flick on by Tony Bush to open the scoring.

Five minutes later Dan Sherry scored a spectacular goal to make it 2-0, the in-form midfielder continuing his scoring run with a fine lob from 25 yards.

Out of sorts striker Tony Bush then finally ended his barren spell, heading home the third and just before half-time scoring a second to make it 4-0.

Landsdowne expected to be under testing pressure in the second half but Kingston lacked the quality to sustain any pressure on the visitors.

Instead Dan Sherry scored his second of the game minutes after the restart to effectively kill off any hopes of a Kingston comeback.

They did pull one back late on from the penalty spot but for all their efforts it was Landsdowne who failed to convert the many chances presented to them.

Bush, Butler and Rix should have all added to the scoreline.

So all eyes turn to next weeks double header, Chronicles season will be over after those two games and Landsdowne know two wins will see them relegate Chronicles and secure their position in the league for another season.

Landsdowne's recent form has been impressive.

Manager Pete Smart's decision to move Graham Rix up front with Tony Bush has seen the goals start to go in again. At the same time his decision to use five players in midfield has seen a more combative team in the centre of the park, allowing his impressive new signing Dan Sherry the freedom to score regularly for his new team.

The defence should also be commended; Hart, Sarling and Paul Bush have all come together to form a formidable backline.
