Landsdowne would be looking to get back to winning ways today after a disappointing performance against Militia last week. Today’s opponents, a new face; Old Island Boys. A team performing well in the league so today should be a good test.

The game started well, both teams looking good going forward and strong at the back. It was Landsdowne who were having the better of the changes. Danny Sarling should have had a penalty early on but Pete Smart who was taking charge of today’s game decided it was a ‘fair tackle’. Not to worry... moments later Sarling met a good corner from Dan T with a powerful header, 1-0.

Old Island Boys responded well but couldn’t find a way past Medcraft. This was until a bit of luck for their striker; he did well to keep the ball in but then played a weak pass across the goal and somehow it crept in at the keepers near post; 1-1.

Landsdowne needed to step up a gear now and pressure the goalkeeper. They did just that with two quick goals before half time. The first a good run and cross by Rix was met with a easy finish by Bush. A nice way to score just before coming off injured. The second, again good work by Rix, he made some good space for himself outside the box and fired in a looping shot leaving the keeper helpless; 3-1 at half time.

The second halve started with both teams looking a bit lacklustre. The game needed a goal to spice things up a bit. It came with about 15 minutes to go.... a lucky cross looped over the goalkeeper and found the far corner. A goal for Landsdowne would seal the 3 points, a goal of Island Boys would get them back in the game....... unfortunately for Landsdowne it went against them, but for the neutral it could set up a nail biting finish??

However it wasn’t to be as moments later Sherry gave his side a comfortable lead with a great finish from the edge of the box. 4-2 to Landsdowne. This knocked the stuffing out of Island Boys and the home side cruised to victory. Well done boys, getting back to winning ways with a good 3 points!!
