Back to the league today for Landsdowne and the target now to achieve a 3rd place finish. Although they have been playing well lately they have lost two games on the bounce and needed to get back to winning games, especially with the cup final only a few weeks away. Today’s opponents a familiar one; Disaranno. Met three times last season; winning twice and losing once.

It could not have been a better start for Landsdowne; a great through ball by Dan T over the right back for Martin to run on to, he controlled well and coolly lobbed the ball over the keeper, 1-0. Disaranno could have let their heads go down but credit to them they hit back and began to play some football. There right midfielder and their striker were causing problems but Medcraft and his back four were equal to everything. Landsdowne were having joy going forward as Rix had the beating of the back four with his pace and Dan T was beating his opponent every time. There was just once thing missing, another goal. At half time the score was 1-0.

Smarty was happy at half time as Landsdowne were the better team and should get all three points if they could get a another goal early on. As with the first the second halve couldn’t have started any better, a good through ball by Sarling found Mayo, he beat his man and looked to shoot, his shot come cross went across the box and found Marling who ‘instinctively’ turned the ball goal wards, 2-0.

This goal did knock the stuffing out of Disaranno as Landsdowne dominated the rest of the game, the only change for the home side was from a corner as a powerful header was hit goal wards, Yard was on the post and even managed to get the slightest of touches to knock the ball onto the post and it was cleared to safety. Landsdowne managed to double their lead before the end of the game; the first was good control in the box by Sarling who beat his marker, and then another man, and then another man, and then another man, before finally deciding to shoot with yes you guessed it..... the outside of his boot, 3-0. With Landsdowne now in control Smarty made a few changes; Orme on for Quinn, Szymanski on for Bush. Within moments Orme made an immediate impact as he passed the ball across the box for Dan T, instant control took him goal wards and with the keeper to beat he passed the ball into the far corner, a great goal to cap of a man of the match performance. Final score 4-0.

A great result and performance for Landsdowne and more importantly a vital 3 points. Well done boys, let’s keep it up.
