Landsdowne were at home today and there visitors were not relishing the prospect of playing Landsdowne at their fortress Holy cross.

Only 2 teams have managed to beat landsdowne in the League at their new home in 90mins since the start of 06-07 season, Reecon and West Laindon were the 2 and Landsdowne had no intentions of letting Albion being the 3rd, Not only did Landsdowne want revenge for what was done to them a few months earlier, but they also wanted to win their 4th game on the trot.

So with this in mind and the added bonus of Danny making another TIT out of himself for the 2nd week running and turning up not only late CHA-CHING but also in the wrong kit, spirits were high but none other than Gavin Mayo, who was named as captain of the team for the first time, he was so pleased he had tears streaming down his cheeks, or was it the fact Graham was standing behind him.

Their was a couple of changes seeing Danny Sarling slot in at left back and Brian Butler on the right of midfield, goal keeper Ben Tarrent back in for Stuart Medcraft and Farmyard back at right back for Jon Orme, and last but not least Chris slotting in for Dave Rix after yet another Red Card.

The game eventually started after the opposition finally arrived and Landsdowne started with panache and style, Landsdowne were at it from the off with slick passing and attack after attack Landsdowne grew in confidence, the back 4 solid the midfield compact and the strikers looking deadly, everybody was talking!!! it was going to turn out to be a good day if the players could keep up their work rate and commitment.

Butler was having an awesome game out on the right, After listening to a rendition of If could turn back time in the car on the way to the ground.

He was beating his player time after time with his pace (yep you read that right his PACE!!!!) and also his deft Ronaldo tricks, equally on the opposite side Gavin was having a field day too, there was more crosses in the game than holy crosses chapel, surely it would be a case of sooner than later.

When up stepped Mr Rix who’s current form is 2nd to none, a quick ball by senior bush to Graham Bang 1-0 Happy day’s more of the same please Guvner.

The game was being played at a fast pace but Landsdowne were Zipping the ball around causing plenty of trouble for the opposition, when a ball crossed over to the left saw Gavin in acres, after just keeping it in, Rule 1 of football Play the whistle, Rule 2 if the opposition stands still shouting the ball is out and it is clearly not!!! Take advantage and that is what Gavin did with a pin point Cross to Tony’s Head, Tony did not even have to move, but with experience and precision guided the ball in to the back of the net with a ripper of a header.

The score now 2-0 And Landsdowne were in control when a cusioned header from Graham found the inform Rob Running through on goal unfortunately the chance passed as did the chance to see this Goal celebration lets hope he does not forget again!!!!!

Despite this Rob was in fine form he was still vocally strong and guided and cajoled his midfield, a few more balls went begging a couple of saves, Half time Whistle blew 2-0 Luvvly Jubbly.

A Good Half time speech given by Gavin sent the troops out Very Positive and Graham was looking at his 3rd win on the Bounce as Caretaker Manager and with Pete at odds of 10-1 to become the New England manager, He was doing himself proud and pleasing Landsdowne’s Chairman Captain Mainwairing.

Landsdowne took to the field and with swagger took the game immediately to their opponents, hell even Vegas found his left foot after 14 years with a left footed cross (For those not their alas it is true and it was more luck than judgement) Another attack down the left sent Graham free all he had to do was Square it for the flying Winger, the goal was Gapping, Butlers eyes lit up brighter than the Olympic flame, he was going to get his traditional 1 a season goal, and with a grin only fitting to the Grinch, he evilly played it behind him, butlers Goal was gone, But the evil grin was there for all to see!!!! However butler turned layed of the ball only to see Terry Bush Rip the net with A Delightful, audacious attempt!!!! What a Goal, What an Assist, Butler (Remember that one) what a score line 3-0 not even a dodgy Linesman decision could change the outcome off this game today.

So with Landsdowne heading for their 4th win of the campaign with 15-20 mins left, Jon Orme Replaced Brian Butler after his marvellous efforts had run himself in to the ground, and Dariusz re-placed Struggling Tony Bush whose Hamstring was clearly giving him gib.

The personnel changed but the football continued to flow from left to right, back to front it was truly enjoyable to play in, when a chance fell to Dariusz unfortunately his effort stopped in the mud on the line, Now it was Gavin’s turn who also was in fine form delivered a ball for Graham, 4-0 let’s go home job Done.

To be fair I've mentioned a few players but every player played their part today. It was described by many as the BEST TEAM performance this season, so well played lads, lets make it 5 wins next match. Before I wrap up there are 2 things left. The 1st: it was not 4-0 - a good ball by Gavin saw Dariusz slap the ball into the back of the net making it 5-0 and a hatrick of assists for Gavin. The 2nd: was Rob Marling’s unintentional but yet slow motion sliding tackle into some poor blokes nuts, Rob had covered acres in this game so I suppose another 2 would not matter. However, the poor fella had to settle for a Arsenal loss and a West Ham win and nothing else tonight!!
