Today was going to be Landsdowne’s toughest game. The opposition; Parkside are doing very well in the league and would definitely pose a threat. Both teams started very well and were pushing forward at every opportunity. It was a good game for the neutral as some good football was being played.

It was Landsdowne who broke the dead lock. A break down the left by Mayo; he played the ball across the box for Bush. The ball was played slightly behind him but with a mixture of amazing flexibility and good reactions Bushy was able to gather the ball and coolly slot the ball in the net. 1-0. Parkside reacted well however a great safe from Medcraft and some brave defending gave them the lead at half time.

At half time the managers words were; keep battling and more goals will come. Both teams started well again, however it was Parkside who were creating more. A change in formation made them more dangerous going forward. Medcraft tipped a good strike onto the bar, however the ball fell straight to the Parkside midfielder who simply headed the ball over the goalkeeper, 1-1. Soon later Parkside took the lead; an awkward cross caused Medcraft to fumble for an easy finish from Parkside.

Landsdowne now needed to wake up and start playing some good football. Rix and Yard found themselves with good chances but could not convert. The Parkside keeper was having a good game and was equal to everything been thrown at him. Trevarthen was creating some good space with his quick feet and found Yard in the box. A weak shot luckily struck the Parkside defenders hand and the ref pointed to the spot. Rix stepped up and smashed the ball to the keepers left……. SAVED. But a good follow up by Rix… 2-2.

Little time left, it looked like the game was going to end in a draw. Unfortunately for Landsdowne Parkside wanted the 3 points and pushed forward one last time. A good flick into the box was met by the Parkside midfielder who won the game for his team with a second half hat trick. Final score 3-2.

Landsdowne’s first league defeat of the season. Some good football from both teams but on the day Parkside got the three points. Should be a good game next time around. Unlucky boys. Lets get back to winning ways next week.
