After another cancelled fixture Landsdowne were hoping to continue there winning streak after a good results against Vasco in their last game. A few players missing today so a different back four started the game, however with everyone up for the game; it should still be a strong side.

Landsdowne started the game quite well; they were playing some good flowing football and created several chances early on. Unfortunately, they could not take their chances and they were soon punished. Disaronno knocked the stuffing out of Landsdowne with two well taken goals. The first a lucky deflection allowed the ball to fall to a player outside the box; a great first time strike flew over the helpless Bullock.

Landsdowne needed to wake up fast. Some good work from Mayo, Rix and Yard down the left allowed Mayo to float a good ball into the box. Bushy looked offside but know flag was raised?? So Bushy easily headed the ball in from a couple of yards. 2-1; and game on??

This should have given Landsdowne the confidence to get back in the game but instead Disaronno came to life and they punished some woeful defending and some even worse commitment levels. Not just once but three times!! At half time the score was 5-1, and it could have been more. Smartey was clearly not happy, he laid into the whole team, focusing on lack of effort and work rate as a key reason as why they were being humiliated. Landsdowne needed to go out and give everything if they had even a small chance of changing this game around.

Both teams started quite well and it was end to end for the first few minutes. However, Landsdowne were still not playing their best and were getting caught, particularly on the break. It was a strange halve of football that saw 6 goals but unfortunately they were shared equally. 2 from Trevarthen; the first a peach from a well worked corner and the other from the sub Szymanksi. Bullock had a good second halve; a great penalty save that at one point looked like it could have gave his side a lifeline unfortunately it wasn’t to be. It was too little too late after a dreadful first halve performance. Final score 8-4!

A very bad day at the office for Landsdowne, hopefully it can be put down to a blip. Change to turn things around next week at Essex Royals.
