Landsdowne today played an away game on Holy Cross pitch 2 against Pendle. After last weeks shock defeat in the Essex Junior Cup Landsdowne started the game with big hope for their first win in the league and with few changes from the side.

The team selection today was “Big” Ben in goal, Paul, Deano and Dave Rix with Chris as Centre back! Gavin, Rob, Terry and Brian in the middle and Graham with Tony up front.

The game started slowly and easy for both sides, but the Landsdowne players woke up first.

8 min. Graham tried with his first chance – but only corner.

15 min. Free kick – of course Gavin and unlucky missed

18 min. Close danger by Pendle!! – Dave Rix blocked shot on the goal line

22 min. Fantastic run made by Rob...and not this time. Ball looking for sky...

23 min. After superb action, our defenders caught five Pendle players on the off-side trap

24 min. Graham after long run was cut down in the penalty area but blind man in black - “play on”.... ! What’s a mistake ????!!!!!

29 min. Gooooal !!!!!! Brian’s excellent pass to Graham and he finished well - 0:1 !!

30 min. Free kick on left side – Gavin to Bushy – unlucky, nearly led to a goal

36 min. 0:2 !!!!!! This time nice ball from Graham to Gavin and no mistake !!!

45 min. 1:2 Pendle players came back into game having scored

Half time

Pete on team talk said “ keep going and pass and run” because Pendle’s players look tired. It was a good half for us and a good result but it wasn’t a good day for Ben...

49 min. 2:2 ...!!! Ben’s mistake and they can celebrate great finish...

55 min. Same goal like in 36 min. Graham to Gavin and 2:3 !!!!!!!

70 min......3:3 !!!! Ben unlucky and again draw

Many many chances for both sides but final result saw no change - 3:3!!! We were the better side but sometimes it’s not enough to win. Pete said after game “we must be happy with this one point because we didn’t lose three...” We must wait for another game to get our first win in league but our performance is on the up.
