Last game of the season for Landsdowne as the fixtures against Militia and Old Island Boys have both been cancelled. Needing just a point to secure 3rd place, today’s opponents Disaranno. Landsdowne comfortably winning 4-0 a few weeks previous.

With the bare 11 Landsdowne would be looking to play for a bit of fun after cup final heartbreak. They played some good stuff in the first halve but lacked the composure to play a decent final ball. Disaranno never really got going; rumours about players leaving and it being their last game together not really inspiring them to put in 100%. The score 0-0 at half time with neither team creating a real change.

Second halve was much of the same, unfortunately this led to a few of the players bickering, mainly out of frustration. The game didn’t really get exciting till the last 5 minutes; a long ball over the top set the Disaranno striker on his way, Weaving found himself in a foot race that he was looking to lose, the players tangled just outside the box giving Disaranno a good change from the resulting free kick. It was well struck but well blocked by Sarling, the away team shouting for a hand ball but the referee having none of it. Meanwhile Landsdowne broke down the other end; Rix charged into the box beat his man but was taken well after. The ref had no choice but to award a pen. Disaranno complained and clearly felt hard down by. Rix gathered himself and gave Landsdowne a 1-0 lead and surely all three points.

With only minutes left Disaranno pushed forward looking for an equaliser, Landsdowne managed to break down the right with Rix, he played the ball square to Medcraft who was playing outfield for the first time this season. He composed himself well and passed the ball into an empty net for his first goal of the season. Final score 2-0. 3 points and 3rd place secure, well done boys.

Apart from cup final heartbreak, great season boys, only team to do the double over us was Hollandiers who were unbeaten all season. 3rd place finish which is one better then last year!
